Meet new people in Bangkok
It might have been easy when you were at college to make new friends. You were given a chance (some forced into) working with people in your class. You have extra curriculum activities to join with others. The opportunities were endless.
Once you get into the workplace, it’s still easy at first. You have your new colleagues, your subordinate and your boss. But then you start getting obsessed with your career, trying to stay ahead of your colleagues, trying to pay off that SLK you just bought and that Thonglor condo you just put down a mortgage for. Your friends started getting married; staying at home is the norm. Then you are left to deal with this harsh lonely world alone in your little Condo – I hope not.
The truth is meeting new people and making new friends are not hard, you just have to put in some effort.
Address Book
The easiest way is to reconnect with the old friends. Look through your address book, give them a buzz especially if you haven’t talked to them for a while, there will be many things to catch up with. Say you saw something, and it reminded you of him/her.
Facebook and Event Calendar in the Newspaper
Check out Thailand Network for an example. There are usually networking events listed in the Thailand calendar practically every night. It is okay to go out by yourself on the weekday evening and definitely better than sitting alone in your room. Check out the gallery events in the local newspaper. Take a name card with you; you never know who you will run into.
Invite new friends to have a meal/drinks
Keep up with people you just met by inviting them out. Not all will say yes, but it doesn’t do any harm, and you have nothing to lose except getting to know more people.
