Lunch date safety tips
5 safety tips for your lunch date and after.
MeetNLunch offers a fun and secure environment to meet other quality singles. We run a background check for all of our clients prior to the meeting, but it is in your best interest to use sound judgment and be responsible for your conduct during the meeting.
1. Start slow
Trust your instincts. If anything makes you uncomfortable, excuse yourself for i.e. urgent meeting with your boss.
2. Exercise caution and common sense
Take all the time you need to test for a trustworthy person. You do not have to exchange email, phone number or place of work during the meeting. We can arrange for you to meet again if necessary. Be responsible about romance, and don’t become prematurely intimate with someone. Never drink from the same glass/bottle if you left for the toilet.
3. Watch for red flags
You should be concerned if your date exhibits any of the following behaviour without providing an acceptable explanation:
- Provided inconsistent information about profession, employment, marital status
- Fails to provide direct answers to direct questions
- Never introduces you to friends, professional associates or family members
4. Meet in a safe place for self-setting 2nd date or later dates
When you choose to meet the 2nd time without our assistance, always tell a friend where you are going and when you will return. Leave your date’s name and telephone number with your friend. Never arrange for your date to pick you up at home. Provide your own transportation, meet in a public place at a time with many people around, and when the date is over, thank your date for getting together and leave on your own.
5. Get yourself out
Your safety is much more important than one person’s opinion of you, so if you feel you are in danger, call the police or shout.
While imposters, liars, cheaters may ply in dating services, but you will also find them in everyday lives, friends of friends or even sitting across from you at the coffee shop. Regardless of where you meet someone, dating is never a risk-free activity, but a little caution will reduce your risk to minimal.
Now it’s time for safety-conscious you to be ready for a lunch meeting.
